When Should You Go to the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival in 2021?

The EPCOT International Culinary and Wine Festival is taking place right now, and if you enjoy Disney nibbles, you’ll be pleased to hear that we’re in the midst of the largest food festival of the year. It’s that time of year again: Food and Wine Festival season! Since the celebration began in July and will continue through November 20th, visitors will have enough opportunity to take part. But, with the Christmas crowds, a new ride opening, many more booths coming on October 1st, and, oh.that little 50th anniversary of Disney World thing going shortly, what is the ideal time to visit Disney World?

August

Is August the best month to go to the FoodWine Festival in San Francisco? Let’s start with the weather, which is really hot right now. If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to walk through a cloud while simultaneously being baked in an oven, Disney World in August is the place to go. You’ll undoubtedly be perspiring throughout the day, and the humidity will most likely still be oppressive as a result of the afternoon rain showers that are forecast. It also happens to be smack in the middle of hurricane season!

  • Certainly, the weather isn’t ideal, but what about the crowds?
  • We have some exciting news to share with you!
  • Another consideration is that some of Disney World’s most important festivities aren’t taking place until October, so some customers may be delaying their visit until then.
  • However, if you’re planning a trip to the city in August, you’ll be able to take part in some interesting activities!
  • In addition, if you’re planning a trip to one of the other parks, Halloween festivities will get underway at Magic Kingdom with the Disney After Hours BOO Bash!

So, should you go or not? If you don’t mind being a hot, sweaty, sticky mess, August, especially later in the month, may be a really excellent time to come, with potentially fewer people than we’re now seeing at the time of your visit.

Click Here to Learn More About the BOO Bash!

The weather will continue to be hot and humid in September, although it will gradually become more bearable over the month of September. While it won’t be as hot and humid as the previous day, it will still be quite hot and humid. Because many guests will be returning to school during this time period, crowds will be fewer than in other months; however, you’ll want to keep an eye out during Labor Day weekend. The Labor Day weekend crowds were quite small last year, and we don’t expect the same to be true this year.

  • Prices rise in October in celebration of the 50th Anniversary, and they remain high until the end of the year due to the Christmas shopping season.
  • What a combination!
  • As the month draws to a conclusion, we anticipate that the number of visitors arriving to attend the celebrations on October 1st will begin to increase.
  • We anticipate that the reopening will continue throughout the month of September as well.
  • Furthermore, you will be able to celebrate Halloween throughout the entire month!
  • So, should you go or not?
  • Please avoid the end-of-the-month throngs that will be arriving for the huge anniversary celebration!

Click Here to Learn More About Hotels Reopening Soon!

The month of October is when things really start to pick up speed! Although the weather is becoming nicer, we are afraid that the crowd numbers will be among the biggest we have seen in recent memory. In addition to the vast set of activities taking place throughout all four parks, Harmonious (a new fireworks show), Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and La Creperie de Paris will open at EPCOT on October 1st, marking the start of the 50th Anniversary celebrations in full. We’re ready for this area to be made available to the public!

  1. In other words, not only will you have enough of new sights to see and do, but you’ll also have plenty of new and intriguing foods to sample!
  2. While there are many new things to see and do in October, if you want to be there on the big day, you’ll have to pay a hefty price for your attendance.
  3. You’ll need to have a lot of patience if you’re planning on coming during this month, especially given the large number of people that will be there.
  4. Just keep in mind that skipping Halloween is a good idea if you want to have the best chance of seeing fewer people.

Those planning a vacation around the first or final week of the month should be prepared to deal with a lot of people! We expect the crowds to remain heavy throughout the month of October, which is unusual given the amount of activity that is expected to take place at the beginning of the month.

Click Here to Learn About Everything Happening on October 1st!

And now we’ve reached the last month of the festival, which is November. You won’t be subjected to those 100-degree days any longer in November, as the state of Florida finally begins to enjoy fall weather (but don’t worry your lovely little head — it’ll still be plenty warm!). The Halloween celebrations have come to an end, but the Christmas season has just just begun at Walt Disney World! You’ll be right in the thick of the holiday season! If you visit during this month, you’ll be able to take advantage of the Christmas decorations and festivities, the 50th Anniversary offers, as well as all of the new attractions and culinary options that launched in the previous month.

To be honest, it all depends on what you’re trying to find! If you’re a guest looking for a less expensive vacation with fewer people and don’t mind the heat, then visiting in August or September is a good option. (September, in particular, appears to be promising!) If you can’t wait to try out the new items and are willing to fight the crowds to do so, come in October or November instead. The temptation of new experiences, as well as the addition of nine new Food and Wine booths, is powerful!

  1. It’s vital to remember that no matter when you’d want to go, you’ll want to start planning your vacation as soon as possible.
  2. A PRO TIP for visiting anytime you want: if at all possible, attempt to visit the Food and Wine Festival throughout the week.
  3. If at all possible, avoid eating and drinking during the day as much as you possibly can.
  4. We’re all set!
  5. Make sure to check back with DFB in the coming months for all of the information you’ll need to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World.

In addition to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, Epcot has a number of other festivals throughout the year that alter the park with limited-time offerings of food and products as well as live entertainment, demonstrations, seminars, and decorations. However, while no specific dates have been revealed for the 2022 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, it is likely that the event will take place over the same time period as the 2021 festival, which will be from mid-July through the week before Thanksgiving. The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival took place from July 15 to November 20, 2021.

Navigating Food and Wine Festival

Food and Wine may be overwhelming, both in terms of the number of people and the variety of things to do. I’m not sure if it will make it better or worse. Disney gives three items that you’ll want to get as soon as possible to help you explore FoodWine. The vast majority of visitors to the park will already be armed with a map when they arrive. During Food and Wine Festival, Epcot maps include a distinct food and wine section that lists all of the booths by number. Here’s a map of the area: Hopefully, you had already made the decision to purchase the Times Guide as well.

In the case of Food and Wine, this also covers activities for which you had to make a prior reservation.

There are checklists for every booth at FoodWine, as well as information on some of the other festival items, contained within this short brochure.

The Festival Passport is a free booklet that may be picked up at various locations throughout the park.

Food and Wine FoodBeverage Booths

It is estimated that there are around forty (40) festival booths during Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, which contrasts to fewer than twenty (20) at the Festival of the Holidays, depending on how you count. Additionally, they provide an array of selections and designs. These are essentially pop-up booths (though many of them are now permanent) located around the park that serve little servings of food and beverages for $5-$10 per item. On the Disney dining plans, the majority of these dishes qualify as snacks; therefore, they are one of the most effective ways to use up your snack credits.

A booth represents almost every country in the World Showcase, with the exception of Ireland, which may or may not be named after the island “Ireland” or the country “Republic of Ireland.” Some booths represent broader regions (the Alps, Africa), while others simply have a theme (the Donut Box, Earth Eats).

The majority of booths provide at least one food item, one dessert, one alcoholic beverage, and one non-alcoholic beverage.

FoodWine Festival Entertainment

“Eat to the Beat” Concert series, which takes place in America Gardens Theater on every day of the festival, will feature a performance every day of the event. Despite the fact that this service was discontinued until after the 2021 festival, we anticipate that it will return in 2022, since the concerts at the other festivals have already resumed. Here’s a sample of the 2019 itinerary (which was the most recent schedule available), which included artists such as Sugar Ray, Kenny G, and Boy II Men among others: These concerts are offered as part of the Eat to the Beat Dining Package, or you may queue up and wait for them to begin at your leisure.

FoodWine Activities

This year’s FoodWine Festival offers an extensive selection of paid events, the majority of which must be reserved in advance (visitTasteEpcot.com).

Remy’s Ratatouille HideSqueak ($)

Remy’s Ratatouille HideSqueak is a scavenger hunt that takes place throughout the park. Maps are available for purchase at major retailers and festival marketplaces across the park for $9.99 plus VAT. Fill out the scavenger hunt (which requires you to match the 15 stickers of Remy and a food item to the 15 places on the map), and you’ll receive a prize: a FoodWine Festival travel cup!

Emile’s Fromage Montage ($)

Located on the final page of the Festival Passport, Emile’s Fromage Montage is a culinary delight. Get a small (like, very mini) cheesecake for purchasing the corresponding cheese items from the five mentioned booths (while also accumulating stickers along the way).

Demonstrations and Seminars ($)

For the time being, we consider most of these items to be TBD for 2022 because they were not accessible in 2021. A large number of demos and seminars are offered at FoodWine, and you must register for the majority of them in advance. A comprehensive list of them may be found on the Disney website (or at TasteEpcot.com), but they include items such as the ones below:

  • Guests may enjoy 45-minute wine, beer, and spirit tastings ($19 per person)
  • Culinary presentations ($19 per person)
  • “Fun” food and drink skill training ($29 per person)
  • And a variety of food and drink options. Cheese lecture ($95 per participant) lasting 90 minutes.

Guests may enjoy 45-minute wine, beer, and spirit tastings ($19 per person); Culinary demos ($19 per person); “Fun” food and drink skill classes ($29 per person); and a variety of food and drink pairings. The cheese class will last 90 minutes and will cost $95 per person to attend.

FoodWine Merchandise

The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, like every other event at Disney World, has its own line of exclusive event products. If you’re coming from Future World, you’ll find the majority of the items at the beginning of World Showcase, at Port of Entry (the store on the right as you enter the park). Smaller Festival Marketplaces may be found around the park, which is a nice addition. Here are some slideshows of goods lines from previous years (use the arrows to navigate through the presentations):

  • This event takes place from late August to mid-November and attracts large people eager to try everything on offer in the time available.
  • It’s impossible to see everything at FoodWine since there are so many different things to see.
  • All of the cuisine is provided in small servings, with the idea being that you may try different foods from different booths.
  • Another advantage is that most of the dishes are eligible for snack credits on the Disney Dining Plan, making them an excellent use of snack credits.
  • You may, for example, purchase Rosemount wines from the Australia booth or a Glenfiddich Whisky tasting from the Scotland exhibit, among other things.
  • In the spirit of drunkenness, please be advised that many visitors and residents alike consider the FoodWine Festival as an opportunity to consume as much alcoholic beverage as possible in a short period of time.
  • If you have any cause to be concerned about this type of conduct, you should generally avoid going to FoodWine on a weekend evening if possible.

Crowd Information

It has already been noted that the FoodWine Festival is extremely popular among both visitors and residents. The fact that the people congregate mostly at World Showcase, near the FoodWine vendors, makes it an unusual event from a crowd standpoint. This implies that the majority of the attractions at Future World have wait times that are average to below average. So even if you are only visiting EPCOT for the rides, spending time at Future World is not a terrible idea if you have the time. It’s better to arrive at FoodWine early if you want to sample the food and wine (which you should, because it’s fantastic).

Those who arrive around 11 a.m.

According to expectations, weekdays are also somewhat quieter than weekends, when the majority of people come out to enjoy themselves.

Don’t be concerned, with even a small amount of forethought and the use of our Throng Calendar, you can easily escape the rabble and the majority of the crowd.

7 Rookie Mistakes to Avoid at the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

The International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot is a fan-favorite event that takes place over many months and features delectable cuisines from across the world, as well as unique activities and entertainment in addition to the various food and beverage booths. The experience is fantastic, but it might be overwhelming if you’ve never been to a festival like this before. This year, my husband and I visited Walt Disney World in the early to mid-September timeframe, and we were especially looking forward to visiting the Food and Wine Festival for the first time.

Unfortunately, it turned out that we just did not understand what we did not understand.

I hope that this post will assist you in being more prepared and avoiding some of the rookie mistakes we made on our first trip to the FoodWine Festival, as well as some of the ones we observed other guests making in our immediate vicinity.

Some things should be avoided at all costs, and these are some examples:

Going on a Saturday

EPCOT’s International FoodWine Festival is a fan-favorite event that takes place over many months and features delectable cuisines from across the world, as well as unique activities and entertainment, in addition to the various food and beverage booths. The experience is fantastic, but it might be overwhelming if you’ve never been to a festival like it before. My husband and I traveled to Walt Disney World in early to mid September of this year, and we were very pleased since it would be our first time attending the Food and Wine Festival.

We studied all of the menus in advance, determined which booths we wanted to visit first, and considered ourselves well-prepared.

However, there were a few missteps along the road that made the day even more enjoyable.

Some things should be avoided at all costs, and they include the following:

Not Looking at Menus in Advance

The number of people filling up the sidewalks, checking their Festival passports (a booklet that lists all of the booths and menu items), or strolling up to each booth individually to look through their offers, plainly having done no prior study, is staggering. Prepare ahead of time by reviewing menus before your trip, perhaps reading customer reviews on reliable websites, and making a list of items you want to sample. This will save you both time and headaches. As a result of having a gameplan in place before arriving, you won’t have to fret about figuring everything out on the spot when you get there.

Having Eyes Bigger Than Your Stomach

Given the abundance of delectable options available at the over two dozen booths and hundreds of wonderful foods to pick from, it’s natural to want to taste as much as you possibly can, especially if it’s your first visit. However, it is critical to be aware of one’s own limitations. There’s just so much food you can consume in a single day! Keep this in mind when you conduct your research, and attempt to narrow down your choices to a small number of things. If you’re still hungry, there’s always more food available!

There will always be something more you wish you’d had the opportunity to try, but I suppose that’s how they keep people coming back!

Expecting to Get Ice Water at the Booths

We went to EPCOT towards the conclusion of our vacation at Walt Disney World. Since the weather was still quite hot and muggy, we’d become accustomed to asking for a couple cups of cold water at various counter service spots during the day to help keep us hydrated. Unfortunately, because the FoodWine booths are not permanent dining establishments, they do not have the capability of providing free tap water to customers.

Consider that you will either have to wait in line at another dining establishment only to get water, pay for bottled water that is both expensive and bad to the environment, or find drinking fountains to replenish your water bottle.

Bringing Your Whole Group in Line

If you are traveling with a group of more than two adults and you are paying in one transaction, there is no reason why your entire group must stand in line. Several mature adults went up to the same checkout together once; the space was so tight and they took up so much space that no one could get around them to the other cashier or the food pick-up area. It was a bizarre sight to witness. Why? Give one person complete control of the order, and the rest may go find for a bench or table to take up residence.

The roped-off lineups and payment sections are rather narrow, with tight twists, so if you have a group of people, one should wait with the stroller while the other places an order.

If you don’t have to do anything, then don’t do it.

Being Discouraged by a Long Line

The lineups for the majority of the Festival booths will most likely appear to be rather long. Nonetheless, if it is something on your bucket list, don’t let this deter you from getting in line for it. Some booths we almost missed since the lines were so long, but I’m happy we didn’t because we discovered that the lines were really moving rather rapidly in most cases. With their payment and pickup system down to a science, Disney is able to move large groups around the park with relative ease.

Thinking You Can’t Visit the “Regulars”

Many people believe that if they are attending FoodWine for the first time, they should limit their attention to the booths and special items. This is a common misconception. However, there are so many fantastic permanent eating options at EPCOT that you shouldn’t feel deprived of the opportunity to enjoy them as well. I personally prefer doing table service dinners as frequently as I can at Walt Disney World since I believe it is a fantastic opportunity to sit down and relax (in the air conditioning) after a long day at the park.

It was the finest of both worlds in one package!

It is something that every Disney lover should do at least once in their lives.

What are some of the blunders you’ve made or watched during the Food Wine Festival?
