When it comes to the association between wine consumption and the risk of heart disease, it appears that a J-shaped curve best fits the data. People who consume roughly 150 ml (5 oz) of red wine each day appear to be at approximately a 32 percent reduced risk of developing cancer than nondrinkers. Higher consumption, on the other hand, significantly raises the risk of heart disease ( 14 , 17 ).
It is also possible to minimize oxidative damage and the oxidation of the “bad” LDL cholesterol by up to 50% with this method ( 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ).
Furthermore, consuming 1–3 glasses of red wine per day, 3–4 days a week, may lower the risk of stroke in middle-aged males, according to recent research ( 23 , 24 ).
