Two Witcher 3 expansions combine to equal roughly The Witcher 2 in length
When I visited the studio in May, game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz informed me that the two planned Witcher 3 expansions will be “around the same length as The Witcher 2.” “Those increases will be significant,” he predicted. “If you total together these two expansions, the combined length of the two expansions will most likely be similar to the length of The Witcher 2.” Those are extremely large, with a variety of settings, people, tales, goods, cut-scenes, and other features. Heart of Stone, the first expansion, will be released in October.
- The second expansion, BloodWine, will be released in the first quarter of 2016, and it will be around 20 hours in length.
- It should be 100 hours in length.
- It’s difficult to plan because you’re constantly adding things – adding, adding, and more adding to fill the globe.” The expansions will be directed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and they are keeping the large Witcher 3 crew busy after the game’s release – along with patching and the free DLC.
- As CD Projekt Red’s director of studio, Adam Badowski, said to me, “We hired the Krakow team and we provided them this – the tale for the new places – a long time ago.” The game’s plot will be recounted in three parts.
“The Witcher Wild Hunt is massive, but we didn’t cut any corners,” he said, before adding, “We didn’t cut any corners.” “No, no, we just tell them to ‘invent another tale plan,’ and they start from the beginning.” Both expansions will be standalone – that is, they will exist independently of the core plot of The Witcher 3 – and will “probably” be accessible to high-level characters.
- After completing the main quest in The Witcher 3, you will be able to continue playing.
- He sounds like a genuine pane, to be honest!
- I’m laughing so hard that I’m tearing up!
- £20 for an Expansion Pass.
As Mateusz Tomaskiewicz explained, “the second one will have a completely new, different area named Toussaint, which is a region from the novels that is really in the neighborhood of Nilfgaard’s dominion.” It is a vassal state that did not take part in the war in any way, therefore it has been completely unharmed by the conflict.” It will be a whole new zone with a size of – it’s difficult to determine right now because it’s being built at the moment.
It is one of the zones that is completely unrestricted.
Adding to the excitement, his brother Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated, “It will be a whole new, extremely large hub with new monsters, a brand new plot, brand new obstacles, and also a brand new setting, which should prove to be quite interesting for gamers.” Adam Badowski, the studio’s creative director, has stated that the expansions will raise the bar in terms of the game’s visuals.
- The release of an expansion may be a moment for game developers to let their hair down and bring not just new story content, but also new gameplay elements to their games.
- ” It’s possible that we’ll introduce some new gaming elements,” Konrad Tomaszkiewicz speculated.
- I’m not sure how much of the systems will be impacted by this at this point.
- “Perhaps in some extension or whatever we will reintroduce it because it is a good idea,” Konrad Tomaszkiewicz speculated.
- “We’re trying to listen to the fans and the reviews, and we’re trying to figure out what people loved so that we can build this to highlight those aspects,” said Marcin Blacha, the project’s chief writer.
“Just to be clear,” Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt, said at the end of the interview, “there is a significant amount of support planned for The Witcherstill, so we are not abandoning anyone.” We provided support for The Witcher 1 and 2 for around two years apiece, and the same is true for The Witcher 3 and 4.
Of course, it won’t be the entire team – at some time, it will be significantly reduced in size.”

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine details revealed
Watch our 15-minute video preview and learn more about the game’s last expansion in this article. At least for the time being, Geralt of Rivia, the silver-haired sorcerer, warrior, and roaming star of the Witcher video game series, has come to an end. Blood and Wine, a piece of DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will be released on May 31. The fantasy, combat, role-playing trilogy, which was initially released in 2007, comes to a close with a new addition to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a slice of DLC calledBlood and Wine.
However, whereas the last expansion lasted around 10 hours, this one features a stronger story component and a longer running time (between 20 and 30 hours), as well as certain gameplay modifications.
Blood and Wineis suggested for anybody with a level 35 character, which means that if you completed the main quest in the core game, you’re almost certainly in fine shape.
A Colorful World
It takes place in the fictional area of Toussaint, which is based on the south of France and the Piedmont region of Italy, and is a mixture of the two. In contrast to Geralt’s regular haunts, this is an area that has remained mostly unaffected by the war. Toussaint is a beautiful, lush land full of flowers, majestic panoramas, and trickling brooks. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind. According to developer CD Projekt Red, the playing area is around the same size as No Man’s Land in Velen, although it has far more places of interest.
A “Beast” is slaughtering noblemen in a series of extremely humiliating and specialized ways, raising the possibility of a demonic purpose.
The people who live there are incredibly romantic, chivalrous, and delusional.
As a result, we have gentlemen committing themselves to the honor of damsels and uttering things like, “By my troth, could that be the musty aroma of freshly patted pate?” When combined with the world’s brilliant colors and easy charm, this lends the plot a vaguely humorous undertone, in which the creators and authors have attempted to let free a little bit of themselves.
The following is a piece of game developer comedy at its most snort-inducing, but it is done in the spirit of a series finale.
Blood and Wineprovides a unique chance for the development team to push themselves a bit farther.
After a few hours of gameplay, it’s clear that the game’s artists have also gone a little overboard with their creativity. Pink sunsets and orange sunrises, gigantic shining moons, and vast starscapes have all been given special attention in this collection. A romantic vacation atmosphere permeates the entire environment, which serves as an effective contrast to the grisly discovery of mutilated corpses and the occasional boss battle with oversized and extremely dangerous monsters. The clothing of the game’s main characters, notably the Renaissance attire worn by the game’s wealthy female characters, is likewise portrayed in exquisite detail.
As Polygon pointed out in our review, this franchise adopts a gratingly antiquated approach to depicting women’s bodies in general.
Because so many people were interested in the issue of The Witcher 3’s complete lack of nonwhite humans, which was discussed here on Polygon last year, I inquired with the developers about whether or not this expansion includes any characters or passers-by who are not Caucasians.
A spokesperson responded that “there are no new races coming to the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with theBlood and Wineexpansion,” and that “the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will remain the same.” For a long time, the company’s explanation for The Witcher’s lack of racial diversity was that it was based on the Polish homeland from which Andrzej Sapkowski’s original series of novels hailed, and thus the game was based on the Polish homeland.
They explain that this is a quasi-Central European society where there has been no migration of people of color in the past.
Having said that, people of color have lived in southern France for hundreds of years, including migrants, merchants, warriors, and drifters from Africa and the Middle East, as well as Europeans.
If there was ever a chance for this series to present a tale that was more inclusive, here was the time to do so.
Mutations and Signs
So, back to that story. Geralt begins his investigation into the mystery of the deceased men by performing quests, hunting for clues, and battling anything bad that goes in his way of learning out what happened. During numerous discussions with NPCs, the player must choose from a limited number of options, each of which has a corresponding effect. An extravagant series of tournaments, complete with royal presence and pageantry, serves as the background for the whole inquiry. Constant mobility, keeping an eye out for weak points in the enemy’s patterns, and using “signs,” or spells, that cause additional damage are all part of the combat strategy.
Furthermore, new upgrades known as mutations have been included, which offer tremendous punches to unique magical strikes and may also be applied to a variety of various weapons.
In one, he is able to freeze a whole group of assailants as they swarm around him.
A Nice Vineyard
A lovely vineyard is acquired by our hero along the road, which he has the opportunity to embellish, introducing a touch of home improvement to The Witcher franchise. However, given that Geralt was never much of a homebody, the décor is pretty much a binary affair that is left to a non-player character to sort out. There isn’t much in the way of individual choice going on here, either. Personalization options for his sartorial designs have been enhanced, with new dyes and paints being introduced that let the user to create their own sets of armor and other costumes.
The game’s user interface has also been cleaned up, making it a little easier to navigate through the many menus.
The Witcher 3 appears to be a highly polished, fulfilling, and graphically appealing finish for the many role-playing players who have enjoyed the game.
The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine: release date, map size, setting, story – everything we know
The release date for The Witcher 3’s last addition, Blood and Wine, has been set for November 30th, 2013. We’re ready to go on our final voyage with Geralt of Rivia, whose long, flowing hair, continuously growing beard, and gravelly voice have become familiar to us. But what awaits him in the new region of Toussaint is anyone’s guess. Continue reading to see how this location varies significantly from Velen, Novigrad, and the Skellige Islands, as well as about all of the new gameplay adjustments, such as the ability to own a vineyard.
Keep checking back because we’ll be updating this article with information such as the beginning level and quest requirements as soon as we get additional information.
19th of May, 2016 (update): This section has been updated with a new trailer that demonstrates exactly what sort of oil will be required in the future expansion, as well as how much of it will be required.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine release date
It’s only a few steps away from here. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be released on May 31st, and you can now get a modest discount by purchasing it on Steamat for $17.99, saving you 10% off the regular price.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine trailers
This week, the first Blood and Wine teaser trailer was published, and it gives a glimpse of the region of Toussaint – both its natural beauty and its sinister side. Also included is a development diary that delves into the features of this new location, discussing the politics and people, as well as why wine is such an important part of the culture and economy of the region. A new trailer has been published to show off even more of the region of Toussaint, a place that has been the subject of many fairy tales.
The long-shot gives us our best look yet at Geralt’s new adversary, and I’m betting it’s some type of vampire – perhaps even THE vampire.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine’s launch trailer has just been released, and it features a slew of sharp-fanged, neck-biting beasts to look out for.
Otherwise, it’s a couple wide shots of Toussaint and more of a look at the combat venue, all set to some dubious musical accompaniment.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine main theme
The primary theme for the expansion has been revealed by CD Projekt Red. You may have heard snatches of it in some of the trailers above, but the full version is appropriately epic. Composed by the original music director Marcin Przybyłowicz, the tune contains vocals by Laura Doddington and Jessica Jeza Vautor. Take a listen to it in the video embedded below:
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine size
According to CD Projekt Red, the expansion has more than 30 hours of material in total. Yes, it is significantly larger than the majority of actual games. However, the developer became overzealous and extended the experience over its initial 20-hour limit to 40 hours. We are not dissatisfied with the situation. According to reports, the real landmass of Toussaint will be enormous as well. How large is it? At the very least, it will be as large as Novigrad, Skellige, or Velen. According to Michal Platkow-Gilewski, CD Projekt Red’s marketing head, the new territory “rivals the scale of those found in the main game.” In an interview with Gamespot, he stated that the new region “rivals the size of those found in the original game.”
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine update
It may be a good idea to free up some space on your hard drive before the release of Blood and Wine, as there will be a 10-15GB update to download, according to CD Projekt Red community manager Marcin Momot on Twitter. However, it is not clear if this represents the whole scope of the expansion or only an accompanying update.
Once this has been confirmed, we will post an update. It may vary depending on your platform, but it will be between 10 and 15 GB. More information will be shared as soon as it becomes available. — Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) posted on May 19, 2016 about
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine setting
Because there will be a 10-15GB update to download before the release of Blood and Wine, it may be a good idea to free some space on your hard drive before the game’s release, according to CD Projekt Red community manager Marcin Momot. However, it is not clear if this represents the whole scope of the expansion or only an accompanying patch. If and when this is clarified, we will provide an update. It will vary between 10 and 15 GB depending on your platform. More information will be provided as soon as possible.
The vineyards that dot the landscape of Toussaint are one of the town’s most distinguishing traits. The vineyard owners are proud clans with a long and illustrious history in the art of winemaking that has been passed down through the generations. Toussaint is known for his passion for wine, which has resulted in the creation of labels such as Est-Est and Erveluce that are well-known across the realm of The Witcher. There is a coat of arms for each clan, as well as a long history behind them and even their own color scheme.
To make matters worse, their cellars are infested with monsters of various kinds.
Mount Gorgon is an unavoidable landmark in Toussaint, and it can be found wherever Geralt and his horse Roach travel on their journey. It is said to be the globe’s highest mountain, towering over the rest of the earth.
Throughout Toussaint, the border between fairy-tale and reality is blurred to an extreme degree. Their influence may be seen in the elf castle that rises out of Beauclair, the duchy’s capital city, with its spires appearing like something out of a Disneyland brochure. The elven palace is a striking example of the duchy’s fairy-tale influences. However, like with the rest of Toussaint, there appears to be another layer buried behind the city’s exterior beauty, similar to how the rest of Toussaint is hidden beneath its surface beauty.
All of the city is built on top of elven ruins, the remnants of which can be found scattered across the urban sprawl, a scar left by a brutal and aggressive conquest from the elves centuries ago.
In addition, there is an abandoned home where a cursed, spoon-collecting monster resides, which should be interesting.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine graphics
In the words of CD Projekt Red, Blood and Wine represents a major graphics improvement over the main game. The majority of the time, it is a visual boost over the main game, according to senior environment artist Len de Gracia, who spoke to Eurogamer. It was decided to apply tactics in the game that were not included in the main game. If you put your camera up against a wall, the textures will be sharp — at least in most circumstances.” Approximately 80-90 percent of the environmental assets in Blood and Wine are all new and were generated particularly for this expansion.
“If you look at the market stalls right now, you will never see the same market stalls in the basic game,” de Gracia stated.
“We had been wishing for it for quite some time and were eventually given it.” We have at least 20 times the number of veggies that we did previously!” We simply wanted to demonstrate that we are capable of pushing it to its limits this time.”
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine new gameplay
Geralt’s last journey in The Witcher 3 will give players the opportunity to accomplish several things with our silver-haired hero that they haven’t been able to do previously, such as:
With the addition of new mutations in Blood and Wine, players will be able to push Geralt even farther up the skill tree. During your time in Toussaint, you will come across a scientist who has spent enough time researching Witcher genetics that he has learned how to control them. Through his conversations, you will be able to access the Mutations menu, which will allow you to enhance Geralt’s Witcher powers even more. These changes will allow you to push even the most powerful Geralt to his limits.
Another new feature – if you care more about Geralt’s appearance than his abilities – will allow you to choose the color of our witcher’s clothing. When you arrive in Toussaint, you’ll no likely wish to fit in with the canary and blue residents of the town.
Own a vineyard
Geralt can rehabilitate a derelict vineyard and relax in the sun, taking a break from all of the monster hunting to take a breather from the chaos of the world. There is a full-on feature called theCorvo Bianco Vineyard, which allows you to put time and money into remodeling, carving out your own tiny corner of this huge terrain, and eventually converting it into a majestic house. You won’t be able to afford every enhancement until you’ve completed the most of the expansion, so you’ll be able to watch it expand as you progress through the tale.
However, investment in the vineyard is not just for the sake of being aesthetically beautiful.
By growing your own herbs in a garden, you’ll be able to collect ingredients for your potion-making.
Geralt will be able to entertain guests if you furnish a guest bedroom.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine story
Gérard arrives in Toussaint in the middle of a wine festival, invited by the Duchess of Toussaint, Anna Henrietta, to deal with an insidious creature that has the knight’s errant completely baffled. quite literally. The fact that it has a fondness for killing people and chopping them into pieces is a lovely touch, too. According to CD Projekt Red, this will not be simply another battle for Geralt, but rather be THE battle for the character. So it’s an opponent more terrible than Master Mirror himself, which raises the question: what is this serial killing beast, if it even is a creature at all?
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine suggested level
Once you’ve purchased Blood and Wine – and completed the prologue in the main game – you’ll be able to access the expansion through a quest in Geralt of Rivia’s notebook. In other words, if you wanted, you could start Blood and Wine with a brand new Geralt. However, CD Projekt has said that the optimal level for these tasks is level 35, so be prepared for a significant struggle if you attempt them too soon in the game. When questioned about the specifics of beginning the expansion, CD Projekt did not mention the possibility of doing so as a stand-alone activity, despite the fact that doing so was an option with Hearts of Stone.
For what good is Geralt’s vineyard guest chamber if he’s not going to invite some random sorceress over for a game of Gwent to begin with?

|Developer(s)||CD Projekt Red|
|Release||31 May 2016|
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the second and final expansion pack for the 2015 video game The Witcher 3. Game developed and published by CD Projekt Red, Blood and Wine was first released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 31, 2016, and was later released on theNintendo Switch on October 15, 2019, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions scheduled to be released in 2021. The expansion follows Geralt of Riviaas he travels to Toussaint, a region that has been mostly unaffected by the conflict that took place in the main game, in order to track down a mystery beast that has been terrorizing the area.
Following the events of the base game, Geralt is approached by DuchessAnna Henrietta, the ruler of Toussaint, an avassalduchy under the control of the Nilfgaardian Empire, who offers him a contract. Two knights of Toussaint have been slain in mysterious circumstances, and Geralt has been entrusted with tracking down and eliminating the beast responsible. Geralt is called to Toussaint to investigate the death of a third knight, which he discovers upon his arrival. Geralt, with the assistance of Henrietta and Captain Damien de la Tour, uncovers clues that point to the knights’ deaths as a result of their failure to adhere to the five values that all knights of Toussaint promise to defend.
- Geralt and the duchess are on a mission to track him down, but Geralt arrives just in time to witness the Beast murdering the fourth knight.
- Geralt’s buddy Regis, a higher vampire and close friend of the Beast, intervenes and persuades the Beast to depart before either can finish off the other.
- Regis informs Geralt that he is bound to Dettlaff, from whom he has been rescued, by a vampire code, which he does not understand.
- They concoct a concoction that allows Geralt to view visions of Dettlaff’s memories in specific instances.
- Regis remains behind to await Dettlaff’s return, while Geralt travels to Henrietta and de la Tour to report to them.
- Afterwards, Geralt conducts an ambush on the collection party, during which he discovers that the buyer is known as the Cintrian.
- In his investigation, Geralt finds that the Cintrian attempted to steal a valuable diamond.
Henrietta recognizes the diamond as a family treasure that had been missing for many years; Orianna confesses that she purchased it from a young lady.
In response to Geralt’s observation that the wine and gem are both closely related to the duchess, an attempt on her life is made, but Henrietta proposes an alternate idea.
Syanna had been exiled because she was believed to be cursed by a curse.
Geralt is surprised when Regis arrives with Dettlaff in tow, stating their intention to aid Geralt in his search for the blackmailer.
By the halfway point, he is joined by Regis, who is keen to regain Rhenawedd, and Dettlaff, who is also eager to do so.
As a result, Geralt concludes that Syanna and Rhenawedd are the same person, who staged her own captivity and was also responsible for the sale of ducal wine as well as the attempted robbery of the diamond.
Geralt tries to convince Henrietta that Syanna was the mastermind behind everything, but the duchess is not convinced.
Geralt is unsuccessful in his attempts to locate Dettlaff throughout the following three days.
Geralt and Regis have two options: either liberate Syanna so that she may speak with Dettlaff, or locate the Unseen Elder, who can force Dettlaff to appear before Geralt and the others.
They make their way to the palace’s playroom, where they discover a magical fairy talebook that the sisters used to read to one another when they were young.
The option to fetch a ribbon for Syanna is available to Geralt while he is in the Land of A Thousand Fables.
If Geralt decides to seek out the Unseen Elder, he speaks with Orianna, who agrees to provide him with directions if he kills a vampire who is attacking an orphanage under her patronage.
There are a variety of conceivable outcomes at this time.
If Geralt is successful in retrieving the ribbon for Syanna, she will be saved from Dettlaff’s fatal blow.
Dettlaff subdues Regis before turning his attention to Geralt, and the two engage in combat.
Regis murders Dettlaff, despite his reluctance.
Geralt has the option of joining Regis in his investigation into the identity of Syanna’s alleged fifth victim before attending the event itself.
When the duchess died, the virtue of compassion would have been fully realized.
Geralt, on the other hand, attends the award ceremony and stands by the duchess’ side while she judges Syanna for the atrocities she committed.
Toussaint is thrown into disarray as a result of the absence of live successors to the dukedom.
Another possible conclusion arises if Geralt fails to obtain the magical ribbon for Syanna from the fairy tale land.
Geralt has the option of letting him go or killing him with the assistance of Regis.
Dandelion, Geralt’s buddy, would soon come to the jail, telling Geralt that he was successful in convincing Henrietta to free him.
His investigation reveals that the fifth victim was to be the duchess herself, and he travels to the ducal vault to console her.
The duchess does not trust Geralt’s story and prohibits him from ever visiting her in the future.
Angry Dettlaff assaults both of them, but Geralt and Regis are able to take the upper hand and kill him.
Geralt and Regis have a drink as they reminisce on their voyage and the events they had watched, and in some cases, participated in.
When Geralt goes home to the grape estate that served as part of his payment, he is greeted by a surprising guest from the past.
It is possible that the visitor will be either Yennefer or Triss (if Geralt romanced either of them in the basic game), Ciri (if Geralt romances neither), or Dandelion, depending on the choices and outcomes from the base game (if Geralt romances neither and Ciri does not survive the base game).

According to Metacritic, a review aggregate website, the film Blood and Wine has garnered “universal acclaim” from reviewers. The manner CD Projekt Red concluded the plot of the characterGeralt of Rivia, as well as the magnitude of the expansion, were commended by several critics, with some speculating that it may be the start of a new project. He expressed gratitude to the creators for creating such an in-depth expansion, and stated that if the game’s producers continued to release new content, he would continue to play The Witcherin 2020.
According to The Escapist’s Steven Bogos, it is a nice expansion in general, although it does not follow the same exciting “rescue the world” theme that the previousWitcher titles did.
According to Richard Cobbett of the gaming website Rock, Paper, Shotgun, the game was not CD Projekt Red’s greatest effort.
According to Chris Carter of Destructoid, Blood and Wine was superior than Hearts of Stone because the latter felt like a “polished, extended adventure,” in contrast to Cobbett’s assessment.
According to a GameSpot review by Kevin VanOrd, “Blood and Wineis occasionally as thematically bleak as its predecessors,” but it is less so when contrasted to other sections of The Witcher 3.
Josh Hawkins, a Shacknews contributor, remarked that they had a few issues and glitches throughout the expansion, but that overall, he found the experience to be positive.
Like Hawkins, Mike Williams of USgamers stated that the expansion was a success in general and that Geralt of Rivia’s goodbye was a success in particular.
