How to Make Glitter Wine Glasses

Adding a little sparkle to your holiday celebrations is easy with these easy-to-make glitter wine glasses from Martha Stewart. Many people have inquired about if the same process I used for my DIY glitter mugs can be used for wine glasses, which it can, in fact, be used! It is critical to remember that these glasses require a 30-day cure time, so if you want them for Christmas, start working on them now so that they have enough time to cure and become completely waterproof and top-rack dishwasher safe.

  • Stemless wine glasses.

Dishwasher safe Mod Podge *; Masking Tape; Soft paintbrushes (I’m using the biggest brush from this set); Glitter**; Stemless wine glasses

How to make glitter wine glasses step 1:

Apply masking tape to a line where you want the glitter to go and then remove the tape. However, the top edge of the tape does not need to be adhered to the glass in order for the bottom edge to be properly secured to the glass.

How to make glitter wine glasses step 2:

Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge (NOTE: This will ONLY work with Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge- do not use any other formula) all over the bottom of the wine glass below the line you taped off with a paintbrush. Remove the tape and repeat the process. I do not paint on the flat portion of the canvas that rests on the table, although you might if you like. Glitter the bottom of the glass generously while the Mod Podge is still wet, capturing any excess on a piece of paper or a glitter tray to pour back into the bottle.

NOTE: Do not let the Mod Podge to dry before removing the masking tape, or else awful things will happen to your project!

How to make glitter wine glasses step 3:

Now is the time to touch up any thin places in the glitter with a light layer of Mod Podge and a little amount of the desired glitter color. Pro tip: Hold your wine glass up to the light to see if you can determine where the thin places on the wine glass are that need extra glitter applied. To proceed to step 4, you must allow the wine glasses to dry fully or for at least four hours before continuing. You can skip to step 4 if your glitter wine glasses looked great and didn’t require any touch-ups.

How to seal the glitter on the wine glasses:

Gently brush a thicker coating of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge on top of the glitter using a large soft paintbrush (DO NOT use a sponge brush for this as it tends to catch the glitter). As a result of the thicker layer, drying time may be prolonged – this is to be expected. Simply leave it away in a safe location where it will not be disturbed and return to check on it after around twelve hours (depending on temperature and humidity). IMPORTANT! You must allow your glitter wine glasses to rest until the Mod Podge has achieved the following results:

  • When touched, the glitter does not move or shift, indicating that it is dry. It appears that the Mod Podge has dried clean, with no signs of white or cloudiness behind

In case you aren’t sure whether or not the Mod Podge has entirely set on the glitter, let it to dry for another 24 hours before proceeding.

Use a big soft paintbrush to paint another layer of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge over the glitter, allowing it to dry upside down for a second time after the initial layer is completely set.

How to make glitter wine glasses dishwasher safe:

READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION! This step is extremely, extremely, extremely necessary for your glitter glasses to work out correctly: For your beautiful new glitter wine glasses to be dishwasher safe, you must allow them to cure for 30 days after they have been purchased. I understand that 30 days seems like an eternity, but please do not attempt to rush through this. However, if you cheat and put your glasses on before the 30 days are up, you must RESTART the 30 days in order to allow the complete curing process to take place, otherwise you may have devastating outcomes.

So do yourself a favor and put them aside for a month, without touching them until you are ready.

Despite the fact that my oldest glass with glitter on it is five years old (I made it for a post on how to add glitter to a mason jar), it is my children’s favorite glass and therefore gets a lot of usage.

Shine brightly!

FAQ and Troubleshooting for Glitter Wine Glasses

Since I initially released this project in 2017, I’ve received a large number of queries and have assisted a number of individuals in determining what went wrong with their project. Hopefully, these helpful suggestions will assist you in making your project a success!

What can I use to seal glitter on glass?

When it comes to getting the best results, I recommend using Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge and following the methods provided above for both adhering and sealing your glitter onto your glassware. No extra sealer is required if the procedures are followed exactly as indicated in the manual.

Can I make glitter wine glasses with Mod Podge?

This project WILL NOT WORK with any other Mod Podge formula than the one specified above. For this project, you should not use typical red or yellow label Mod Podge, nor should you use any homemade “Mod Podge.” It’s not going to work out.

Can I seal the glitter with hairspray?

No. It is possible that the glitter will become permanently stuck to the glass if you complete this project according to the instructions for applying the glitter with Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge and sealing the glitter with Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge. It will not shed, and no additional sealer will be required to protect it.

How do you keep glitter from falling off?

If you watch the video of me creating the glitter glasses, you will see that after I put the glitter to the wet decoupage medium (Mod Podge), I violently tap the glass. This is done in order to remove glitter that has not become permanently adhered to the glass. Once you’ve completed this step, allow the Mod Podge or decoupage material to dry completely. If you need to touch up certain areas or add another coat of glitter, just apply another application of Mod Podge or decoupage medium, apply the glitter, tap to remove it, and allow it to dry fully before continuing with the project.

Once the medium has dried completely, apply another coat of dishwasher-safe Mod Podge or decoupage medium to the glass to secure the glitter in place. This will prevent the hair from coming out or shedding in the future.

Is Mod Podge waterproof?

While watching the video of me creating the glitter glasses, you will see that after I put the glitter to the wet decoupage medium (Mod Podge), I violently tap the glass. Remove any glitter that is not truly adhered to the glass with this method. Then, allow the Mod Podge or decoupage medium to dry completely before completing the next step. If you need to touch up any areas or add another layer of glitter, just apply another coat of Mod Podge or decoupage medium, apply the glitter, tap to remove it, and allow it to dry fully before proceeding with step 3.

This will prevent it from shedding or falling off.

Does Mod Podge Dry Clear on Glitter

Yes. The final products displayed below have been sealed with a clear sealant, as indicated in the photos. Your Martha Stewart Decoupage Medium or Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge is hazy because it is either not completely dry or because you did not allow the mixture to cure completely for the full 30 days before using and washing it.

Can you bake glitter wine glasses in the oven to cure them?

No. Never put these glasses in the oven because they will burn! Glitter is not meant to resist high temperatures and will melt in extreme temperatures. If you want to build DIY wine glasses that include glitter as well as any other form of design that has to be heat set, apply the design that needs to be heat set first and then put the glitter on top of that. Once it has been allowed to cure and set, you may proceed with the application of the glitter as shown in this lesson.

My glitter got gloopy and dripped off the wine glass.

If this happens, it means you used too much Mod Podge or decoupage substance on your project. You should use a generous amount of Mod Podge, but not so much that it runs down the sides of the wine glasses. Spread the Mod Podge evenly on the wine glasses before applying the glitter, and then allow it to dry completely before applying additional coats of Mod Podge or glitter. How to Make Glitter Wine Glasses/video.mediavine.com/videos/tituj674gdqfnwpwirrc.jsLearn how to make glitter wine This is a simple and enjoyable method of creating your own unique DIY wine glasses.

How to Glitter Wine Glasses (with Pictures)

  1. Apply masking tape to a line where you want the glitter to go and then remove the tape. It is critical that the lower edge of the tape adheres securely to the glass, but the top edge is not required to do so
  2. Nonetheless, it is recommended. Utilizing a small paintbrush, paint the Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge all over the lower section of the wine glass below the line you marked off with the black tape. It is not necessary for me to paint on the flat surface that rests on the table, but you might if you wanted to. Whilst the Mod Podge is still wet, liberally sprinkle glitter over both sides of the bottom of the glass, collecting any extra on scrap pieces of paper or in a glitter tray to be re-incorporated into the bottle. While the Mod Podge is still wet, peel away the masking tape to reveal the design. Make sure to turn the glasses upside down for at least four hours to allow them to dry completely
  3. If there are any locations where the glitter is too thin after it has dried fully, apply a light coat of Mod Podge and more glitter to those areas as needed.

How to apply glitter to a piece of glass

  1. Apply a thick coat of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge over the dried glitter layer with a big, soft paintbrush
  2. Let dry completely. Continue to wait for the Mod Podge to dry entirely (you’ll know it’s finished when it’s dry to touch, the glitter doesn’t move or shift when touched, and the Mod Podge has dried clear with no signs of white or cloudiness)
  3. Use a wide soft paintbrush to paint another layer of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge over the glitter, allowing it to dry upside down for a few minutes after the initial sealing layer has dried fully. Allow 30 full days for the dishwasher safe Mod Podge solution to cure and become dishwasher safe on the wine glasses
  4. This will ensure that the wine glasses are dishwasher safe.

How to Make Glitter Wine Glasses

Make sure you have some glitter wine glasses on hand before you begin! Mod Podge a coating onto your wine glass using an old foam brush once it has been cleaned. Simply apply it with a brush. Make an effort to keep the top of the stem in a straight line.

Decorating Wine Glasses with Glitter

For the glitter, I combined a large amount of the bright orange glitter with a little amount of black glitter in a container and blended it thoroughly. Make sure you have a plate or container below the glass before you begin pouring the glitter onto the mod podge mixture. While you’re pouring, turn the glass around so that the liquid covers the whole stem that has been coated with Mod Podge. Shake the glass a few times to get rid of any remaining glitter. When you’re finished with the first coat, the stem should look like this: –Then put all of the glitter off the plate back into your container so that you may use it for the following coating.

  • Then, using a clean, dry paintbrush, paint over the whole surface of the glitter as if you were painting a picture.
  • If you skip this step, the foam brush you use to apply the next coat of mod podge will become extremely sparkly.
  • One more coat of glitter was necessary for me to get the desired thickness.
  • Allow it to cure for another two hours, and then carefully remove any remaining glitter with the paintbrush once more.
  • Apply a layer of Triple Thick with a paintbrush and allow it to cure for a couple of hours more before continuing.

It will look like this after two coats of paint! Triple thick does wonders for sealing in glitter. The material is used to create all of my glitter cosmetics brush holders. Applying Vinyl to Wine Glass

I combined up a large amount of the neon orange glitter and a little amount of black glitter in an open container to make the sparkles for the sparkles. To begin, make sure you have a plate or container underneath your glass and begin pouring glitter over the Mod Podge. While you’re pouring, turn the glass around so that the liquid covers the whole stem that has been coated with Mod Podge! Extra glitter can be removed by tapping the glass on a hard surface. After the first coat, the stem should look like this.

  1. – 2 hours is sufficient time to allow the glass to dry.
  2. With this method, you may remove any excess glitter that did not adhere to the previous coat.
  3. If your final product is pleasing to the eye, you may skip to the following stage and proceed directly to applying Triple Thick.
  4. Repeat the pouring of glitter onto the Mod Podge step a second time, this time with a coating of Mod Podge over the glitter.
  5. You may now apply a sealant on the sparkles.
  6. When you apply two coats, the result will be as follows: Triple thick works wonders for sealing in glitter and other little particles.
  7. Instead, I have some funmarbled DIY wine glasses andFREE wine phrase SVG files if you like less glitter.

  • Earlier this year, I made a pair of Rainbow Glitter Wine Tumblers for a rainbow-loving friend of mine, and they were such a hit that I decided to make “Glitter-Dipped” peekaboo wine glasses for another friend this year!
  • Making a personalized and professional-quality DIY present for a few dollars is a fantastic way to express yourself.
  • The first step is to mark and mask off the area of the wine glass that you wish to cover with glitter before you begin applying the glitter.
  • You may need to adjust your measurement based on the size of your wine glasses.
  • With your fingertips, press down on the tape and smooth it out to ensure that it is securely bonded to the glass.
  • They are both breathtakingly beautiful!
  • The picture photographs simply could not do thisShimmer Vinyl justice, so I had to do a video to show you just how amazing this actually is!

The “peekaboo” decals that you can see inside the wine glass will not be compatible with them since you are really viewing the bottom of the vinyl as it is being put to the exterior of the glass.

Because the colors offered in theVibrant Value Packwere just what I was seeking for, I decided to utilize Removable Vinyl for my project.

If required, adjust the size of the pieces to fit your wine glass.

Cut out each individual mat as directed in Design Space, using your choice of vinyls and yourMaker to get the desired results.

The usage of aHooked Weeding Tool is something you should try if you haven’t already.

The variously crafted phrases are just normal text created with theMartha Stewart Home Team andSaphir Comfonts in Design Space (if you’re interested in seeing them in their original form!).

Transfer tape should be placed on top of your Plant Lady vinyl once the backing has been peeled off of it.

Scrape the vinyl onto the wine glass with the Scraper Tool, and then peel away the transfer tape to reveal the vinyl below.

Transfer the center of one of the larger leaves to a piece of transfer tape so that it will be the focal point of your peekaboo pattern.

Before burnishing the design and removing the transfer tape, turn the glass over and double-check the positioning of the design.

Isn’t that a lot of fun?

Next, gather your dazzling materials, which include: Mod Podge that is dishwasher safe, a foam brush, and your favorite glitter are all you need.

Turn the glass over and apply a thin coat of Mod Podge on the bottom, up to the tape line on the bottom.

Repeat with the other colors.

To finish the project, once the final coat of glitter has dried, apply a final coat of Mod Podge over the glitter to seal it all in place.

And it looks really fantastic when you combine it with the peekaboo leaves that are placed inside the wine glass!

I just like this glitter wine glass, and I know that it would make a wonderful present for someone special!

), the awesomeness of the vinyl was being overshadowed by the photos (boo!).

Permanent vinyl is, after all, pretty damn permanent, but if you work quickly enough, you can usually get it off.

I used my True Control Knife and some lemon oil to remove any sticky residue that had remained after the adhesive had been removed, and it worked perfectly! I actually like the black over the gold, so I’m pleased I made the decision to go with it instead of the gold.

Making DIY Glitter Wine Glasses

I thought that one “Plant Lady” wine glass was a little lonely, so I decided to build a second one and give them to my buddy as a gift as a set of glasses. Keepin’ with the plant theme, I went with a “Gardening is Better Than Therapy” design, which you can discover in Cricut Design Space by clicking here. Don’t forget about theHooked Weeding Tool I mentioned previously. It’s also useful for weeding extremely little fragments, such as the interior of these flower petals. I chose to use Shimmer Vinyl for the main design once more (this time in Fuchsia, Green, and Purple), as well as other colors of Removable Vinyl from the Vibrant Value Pack for the peekaboo decals on the back of the door.

  1. SUPER ADORABLE!
  2. It’s so endearing!
  3. These wine glasses are going to be the PERFECT present for a buddy who is a huge plant enthusiast!
  4. The devil, after all, is in the details.
  5. Of course, sharing a glass of wine with a buddy is always a good idea, and this second glass is just as brilliant as the first!
  6. This is a gift that I would absolutely adore receiving from one of my friends!
  7. I used Dishwasher-Safe Mod Podge and Permanent Vinyl to create these glitter wine glasses, both of which are dishwasher-safe.
  8. Who do you think you’d make these for?

Documentation Download Documentation Download Documentation Glittery wine glasses are ideal for special events such as birthdays, bachelorette parties, weddings, and other formal gatherings. Create precise lines and designs on your wine glasses with painter’s tape, and then use glass glue to ensure that the glitter stays on your wine glasses when you’ve finished decorating them. Because of the drying durations, this craft may take a few hours to complete, but it is rather simple and enjoyable to complete.

  1. 1st, gather all of your supplies. Even if it is simple to make glitter wine glasses, particular materials and tools are required in order to complete the task. Before you begin, you will require the following materials:
  • Mod Podge or similar glass glue
  • Wine glasses
  • Cardboard
  • Paper plate
  • Painter’s tape
  • Big paint brush
  • Glitter
  • Scissors
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Cotton balls
  • Ribbon
  • And other supplies.
  • 2 Consider drawing a rough sketch of the design initially. Drawing your design on a sheet of paper will help you to see what looks good and what doesn’t, and will therefore save you from making mistakes later on when you are creating the final product. While it is possible to brush off glitter and glue while they are still wet in order to adjust the design, it is preferable to get the design correct on the first try to avoid mistakes. For glitter wine glasses, here are several common design ideas to consider:
  • Only the base of the wine glass should be glittered
  • The rest of the glass should be left unadorned. It is also possible for the glitter to stretch 12 to 1 inch (1.27 to 2.54 cm) up the stem of the glass. Glue the glitter solely on the stems of the wine glass, leaving all other areas of the glass untouched
  • Glitter may be used to create an initial or a number. Making use of glitter, create stripes all over the rim of the glass (or simply the stem)
  • Fill fill the whole glass with glitter, excluding the top 12 to 1 inch (1.27 to 2.54 cm) of the rim. Make patterns using two distinct hues of glitter
  • For example, Making two colors mix into one another allows you to create ombré graphics.
  • s3 Set up your workstation in the appropriate location. Locate a flat table and cover it with a sheet of newspaper if possible. You will be working with glue and glitter, which will make for a sloppy environment. On your desk, you should also have a tiny piece of cardboard or paper to act as a collection container for the glitter. As a result, it will be simpler to return any surplus glitter to your glitter bottle for future projects. 4 Alcohol should be used to clean the exterior of the wine glasses. To guarantee that the glitter adheres to the glass, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the glass surface before applying it. Wipe the exterior surface of the glass where you intend to put the glitter with few cotton balls coated in isopropyl alcohol.
  • Place your glasses aside for a few minutes to allow the alcohol to dry completely once they have been thoroughly cleaned.
  • 5 Cut a tiny piece of tape and use it to attach it to the bottom of your wine glasses. Cut a lengthwise piece of painter’s tape from your roll of tape to produce a long, thin strip of tape. A little strip of glitter will enough if the glitter will be applied only on the stem of the flower stem. Place the tape around the part of the wine glass where you want the glitter to come to a complete halt. Check to see that the tape is evenly applied and that it is securely adhered to the wine glass. Or else your wine glass can have an unsightly glitter line around the rim of it
  • Before applying the glitter to the base of a wine glass, carefully tape it off so that just the base is visible from the top. Additionally, you may leave 12 to 1 inch (1.27 to 2.54 cm) of the stem exposed, and the glitter will spread onto a portion of the stem as a result. Cover the base of the wine glass with masking tape before applying glitter on the stems of the glass. And then cover the bottom piece of the bowl part with masking tape as well
  • And A glue stencil or applying the glue directly on the glass free-hand are both options for creating an initial or number out of glitter. Using long pieces of tape, spiral them around your wine glass to produce a candy-cane appearance on the surface of your glass to create stripes. In order for the tape to be effective, there must be intervals between its edges. Use masking tape to protect the sections you don’t want coated in glitter if you’re using two or more colors. Then use glue to adhere the first color to the regions that were taped off. As soon as you have finished applying the glitter and let the glue to dry, begin applying the glue and glitter for the following color. To create an ombré effect, simply tape off the bottom and top portions of your design and work in the space between the pieces of tape

  • 6Pour glass glue onto a paper plate and let aside. Pour a big amount of glue onto a paper plate, since you will need to be able to dip your paint brush into the glue. In order to guarantee that the glitter adheres to the glasses, ensure that there is enough adhesive to coat each glass with a thick coating of glue. 7 Glue should be applied to the lowest section of the wine glass. As soon as your tape is in place, take your paint brush and dip it into the glue. Then start painting the adhesive onto the lower part of the wine glass, working your way up. In order for the adhesive to adhere well to the wine glass, it must be applied evenly and thickly.
  • If you are concerned about leaving streaks on the glass, you may alternatively use a foam brush. A foam paintbrush may be more effective at applying paint uniformly than a barbed paintbrush.
  • 8 Sprinkle glitter on top of the adhesive. After you have applied the glue to the wine glass, remove the paintbrush from the work area and set it aside. Then, grasp onto a portion of your wine glass that does not have any adhesive on it to keep your balance. As you hold your wine glass over your piece of cardboard, begin to pour glitter over the glue-coated areas of your wine glass.
  • 8 Sprinkle glitter over the glue to make it shimmer more. The paintbrush should be placed aside once the glue has been applied to the glass of red wine. Finally, grasp a portion of your wine glass that does not have any adhesive on it. As you hold your wine glass above your piece of cardboard, proceed to pour glitter over the glue-coated portions of the wine glass
  1. 1 Allow the wine glasses to dry completely. For best results, leave the wine glasses to dry for around an hour, but you may even leave them overnight to ensure that they are completely dry. Before you can apply the finishing touches, you’ll need to wait until the glasses are totally dry.
  • 1 Allow for drying of the wine glasses. For best results, leave the wine glasses to dry for approximately an hour, but you may also leave them overnight to make sure they are completely dry. Before you can apply the finishing touches to the glasses, they must be entirely dry.
  • 2Remove the masking tape. When the glasses are completely dry, begin to peel away the painter’s tape in small sections. The glitter-covered glass and the glitter-free glass should be clearly separated by a crisp line once you have removed the masking tape. After you’ve removed the tape, throw it away. 3 Glitter should be sealed. You will next need to seal the glitter with extra glue or a sealing spray, such as Krylon Crystal Clear, to prevent it from flaking off. Make another layer of glue over the glitter with your large paintbrush to seal the glass and make it more resistant to scratches and breakage. After that, let the glass to cure for at least one hour.
  • If you intend to use a sealing spray, you will need to walk outdoors in order to seal your glass windows. Place the glass on a piece of newspaper on the ground outside, and then spray the Krylon Crystal Clear over the sparkly regions of the glass using a fine spray gun. Next, allow for at least an hour of drying time on the glass
  1. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the stem and tie it in place. Remove the ribbon from your glass when it has been tied around the top of the stem, and you will have a cute finishing touch for your glass. Tie the ribbon in a bow and make any necessary adjustments. Your glass is now ready to be used or given as a gift. Advertisement

  • Do not clean the wine glasses with a sponge. Instead, use a soft sponge and avoid the glittering areas as much as possible. The wine glasses should not be washed in the dishwasher.
  1. 3Dry your wine glasses as soon as possible. Do not allow your glitter wine glasses stay in water for long periods of time. Immediately after hand-washing your wine glasses, make sure to dry them with a soft towel to prevent them from becoming cloudy. The glitter may chip and flake off if there is an excessive amount of moisture in the air. Advertisement

How To Glitter Wine Glasses • Taylor Bradford

When it comes to crafting projects, glitter is always the go-to material. I like the shine, sparkle, and youthfulness that glitter brings to every creation, no matter how simple or elaborate. It would be great to have these sparkly wine glasses on hand for a party or even simply to have on hand for a random Tuesday. This project takes a little time to accomplish, but it is rather simple. How To Glitter Wine Glasses:Materials: Glitter (optional):

  • Mod Podge (dishwasher safe), a foam brush, ultra-fine glitter, painter’s tape, and wine glasses (I found mine at the Dollar Store) are all needed.

Prepare the wine glasses by taping the edge where you want the glitter to stop on the outside of them. Then, using a foam brush, paint the mod podge onto the wine stem and let it to dry. Apply a very even layer of paint on it (but not too thin so that the glitter has something to stick onto). Mod Podge is wet, so sprinkle the glitter on top of it. Extra should be shook off onto a paper plate (you can funnel it back into the glitter container). A few of applications of mod podge and glitter are sometimes necessary to completely cover the surface of the project.

Apply a final coat of mod podge to ensure that all of the glitter is completely sealed.

It would be simple to personalize them by writing each guest’s name on the outside of the cup (in gold metallic vinyl of course).

Glittered wine glasses may be used for a variety of occasions including birthday parties, bachelorette parties, wedding showers, and just because. What do you think you’d get out of these glasses?

How to Glitter Wine Glasses

How to Glitter Wine Glasses (with Pictures) Glitter can be used by adults just as much as it can be used by youngsters. You may turn a set of wine glasses into a glamorous barware set for a gift, bachelorette party, Oscar party, or any other special event by personalizing them. As soon as you have finished designing your glasses, make sure to carefully seal them so that the glitter stays on the glasses and does not end up in your dishwasher. Vote in Favor of It!

Step 1: Things You Need?

Wine Glasses with Glitter – How to Do It When it comes to adults, glitter is every bit as beneficial as it is for kids. A pair of customized wine glasses can be created for an occasion such as a gift, bachelorette bash, Academy Awards party, or any other special event requiring elegant barware. As soon as you have finished designing your glasses, make sure to completely seal them so that the glitter stays on the glasses and does not end up in the dishwasher. Decide whether or not it should be implemented.

Step 2: Preparing the Project

Purchase a set of wine glasses made of glass. You may get affordable pairs at Ross or TJ Maxx, or you can locate glasses in a thrift store for a reasonable price.

Step 3: Preparing the Project

At the craft store, pick up some glitter in your choice colors, some Mod Podge, a paintbrush, and some lacquer sealing spray. The lacquer clear varnish, which is not available at every craft store, is the element that will ensure that your glitter glasses will be washable after use.

Step 4: Preparing the Project

Set up your workstation in the appropriate location. Make use of a flat table and cover it with a sheet of poster board or cardboard to keep everything organized. You may collect the glitter that has fallen off the cardstock and pour it back into the glitter container for future use.

Step 5: Step 1

Make a rough drawing of the glasses you want to make to get a sense of how they will look. The following are some of the most common design concepts for sparkling wine glasses: Glitter should be applied to the stems only, with the upper glass piece remaining naked. Write a name or initials on the side of the glass and cover it with glitter to make it more festive. This design may require the use of a flexible stencil if you want to utilize it but aren’t confident in your freehand calligraphy abilities.

Painter’s tape will be used to make even stripes on the glass as you stripe it.

Use glitter to cover virtually the whole surface of the glass, leaving a stripe on the top for ease of drinking.

Step 6: Step 2

Painter’s tape can be used to delineate the areas that will be glittered. Painter’s tape can be used to create a barrier, and the glue can be painted on either above or below the tape. You can use butcher paper or paper towels to cover the remainder of the glass if you want to keep the rest of the glass safe.

Step 7: Step 3

Open your Mod Podge jug and go to work. Insert your brush and gently wipe away any excess on the rim of the cup.

Using a substantial amount of adhesive, cover the area where you want the glitter to be with the glitter. Make sure you don’t use too much adhesive. You want the glitter to adhere, but you don’t want the adhesive to run down the sides of the paper.

Step 8: Step 4

Shake the tube of glitter onto the area that has been coated with glue. Make use of a lot of glitter, but keep in mind that you should always apply it directly to the cardboard. Turn the glass while shaking out the glitter to ensure that the glitter gets around the curves of the glass.

Step 9: Step 5

Allow approximately one hour for the glue to cure on the work surface. Return to the room and remove the tape. The method may be repeated with a different color of glue by marking off the dry and naked parts with butcher’s paper and painter tape before starting again. Painter’s tape should not be applied directly to the glitter portion. It has not been healed as of yet. If any holes appear in your prior coat, simply fill them in with additional Mod Podge and more glitter. If the paint is splotchy, you can apply a second coat to the entire piece.

Step 10: Step 6

Allow four to twelve hours for the last layer to dry and cure completely. Before you seal it, it should have lost its sticky appearance.

Step 11: Step 7

Allow four to twelve hours for the last layer to dry and cure. Before you seal it, it should have stopped being tacky.

Step 12: Step 8

Allow for four to twelve hours for the final layer to dry and cure. Before you seal it, it should have lost its sticky feel.

Step 13: Step 9

Shake the spray lacquer can thoroughly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Shaking is normally required for 30 seconds to one minute to be effective.

Step 14: Step 10

Apply the lacquer on the area of your wine glasses that has been sparkled. To avoid leaking, keep the can at least six inches (15cm) away from the glasses at all times.

Step 15: Step 11

Wait till it has completely dried. After that, apply a second clear coat to seal everything in. Examine the package instructions to see how long you will need to wait between applications of varnish.

Step 16: Step 12

After the lacquer has dried, you may put your spectacles on. Because of the lacquer coatings, you should be able to wash them in the dishwasher. They will, on the other hand, respond much better to hand cleaning.
